Valentina Schiariti, Italian student at Embassy CES Los Angeles

Valentina Schiariti, Italy

I have a degree in foreign languages, English and French. But in Italy, my home country, I do not speak so much English. Fortunately I have the possibility to improve my English at Embassy CES. I've studied at Embassy CES in Los Angeles for three summers running: in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

I think I improved my English skills every summer. Every year I learn new things like idioms, grammar topics, and vocabulary.

I like the fact that the staff are always very helpful and friendly. Students can talk to them about any kind of problem. They always make me feel important and encourage me. I also like that the teachers always try to motivate the students to talk. Because of the different activities, and the imaginative teachers, it never becomes boring in class.Every year I have new experiences with different people all over the world. Actually this fact makes this school so interesting and special. It is not only that you learn to improve your English, but for your whole life!

I think I have seen almost everything in LA. Embassy CES organises a lot of activities. The school also works with a travel company. So there are trips to national parks, adventure parks, the big cities like San Francisco and Las Vegas. But Los Angeles always offers new things and sights. It is almost impossible to become bored!

I appreciate the good location of Embassy CES in Los Angeles. It improved in 2007 when the school moved to Chapman University in Manhattan Beach. I always choose Homestay accommodation. One big positive point to mention is that Embassy CES tries not to put the students in households too far from school. The host families are located in good and safe neighbourhoods.

I've made a lot of friends - not only at school and lessons, but also in my Homestay accommodation. Embassy CES tries to mix students from different countries in the accommodation. So I got to know people from all over the world.  I am still in contact with most of the students who became my friends. We write e-mails or letters. I even went to Hamburg in Germany last year to visit a friend there.

I would definitely like to come back a fourth time, because I only have positive experiences during my time at Embassy CES. Los Angeles is such a huge and interesting city that there is always something new to do and to visit.
