Pamela Carillo, Colombian student at Embassy CES London

Pamela Carillo, Colombia

Hi!

I'm Pamela from Colombia. I'm really happy here. The staff are really friendly, and the teachers are young, which is really important as they can empathise with the students and make lessons fun, and that helps us to learn. The school might not be the very cheapest, but the students who come here are motivated to learn. I have several friends in other, cheaper language schools, but the quality is very poor and no-one attends their classes.

When I arrived, I lived in Homestay for a few weeks and then found private accommodation. The Homestay was very nice: they were welcoming and really helped me to understand the culture.

I came to England mainly for professional reasons. I work in publicity for General Motors, and realised that if I wanted to advance within the company I needed better English. I wanted to come to the UK because I prefer British culture and the British accent - all my life I've been exposed to American English and I want to be comfortable with both.

I'm now thinking of my next step - do I return to Colombia and General Motors, who said they would be happy for me to apply to them when I go back, or do I stay in the UK and do a Masters in Marketing? I can't decide….
