Cambridge: FAQs
These are the questions we are most frequently asked about studying at Cambridge.
If you have a question and cannot find the answer below, please contact us - we'll be happy to help, and we might even add your question to this page.
- How far is the school from the city centre?
-
It is about one mile to Cambridge city centre. You can walk there within 20 minutes, or cycle in approximately 10. You'll find a map on the Cambridge local information page.
- How far are the residences / the Homestays from the school?
-
Please see our Cambridge Accommodation section for full details. Homestays are a maximum of 30 minutes away by public transport, and often closer.
Tripos Court is approximately three miles from the school and can be reached either by bike or public transport. You can walk to the city centre from Tripos Court in 15 minutes.
- Is there internet access at the school / at the residence / in Homestay? Is it free to use?
-
All our schools have wireless internet access which is free and unlimited. Students can also use the school computers for free all day, but may have to wait during busy times.
Internet connections can be set up in student rooms at Tripos Court, but works out rather expensive (up to GB £200) for those on short courses. Therefore many students prefer to use the school connection during lunch time and after school.
Homestays differ, and we cannot guarantee internet access. Please mention at the time of booking if it is important to you, and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements.
- Can I see some photos of the school / the residence?
-
Please see our Cambridge photo gallery and Cambridge photobook [PDF]. If you would like to see more photos, just contact us. We can email you pictures that will help you to imagine life at Embassy Cambridge a bit more clearly.
- Do I need a car in Cambridge?
-
No. English cities tend to be compact, served with good public transport, and generally walkable. Indeed, cars are often more trouble than they are worth, since petrol costs are high and parking is often difficult.
Cambridge is a student city and a large number of its residents habitually use bicycles. You can arrange bicycle hire at the school.
You will find the answer to more general questions about Embassy on our main FAQs page.
