Mark Kielniacz - Teacher
BA; CELTA
My work involves:
Teaching in the Academic Year Abroad programme.
My experience:
From the time I was a child in Brisbane, I have had a fascination with the ways languages work, and when I studied and taught in Taiwan and Beijing, I realised how very quickly one could develop skills in a foreign language. Moreover, I discovered that it need not only be hard work, it could be genuinely good fun.
I feel that studying overseas is a wonderful privilege and I love sharing my passion for language learning with my students.

My top tip for learning:

My top tip for enjoying life in Brisbane:
Get out of the city and experience the real Brisbane..
My experience:
I started working in international education in 1988 as a teacher and over the years I have worked in a number of positions both in Australia and overseas.
Since 2001 I have worked as a teacher, co-ordinator and now manager at Embassy. Working in a college that values education and is willing to ensure that the students are given the best opportunity to learn English is very rewarding.
My life outside the college is taken up with my family. We like to travel but as with any family we spend a lot of time just doing ordinary day to day things. However my son and I both like camping and we try to get into the country as often as we can.

Glenn Johnson - Special Courses Co-ordinator
BA Creative Arts; MA Creative Writing; CELTA
My work involves:
Teaching and coordinating Cambridge examination and Academic Year classes.
My experience:
I've been working at Embassy CES Brisbane since 2001. My role as Special Courses Coordinator involves not only teaching, but the co-ordination of courses such as Cambridge Exam Preparation, AYA and EAP.
I've always found the atmosphere at Embassy friendly and relaxed. From the help desk staff to the managers, teachers and Director of Studies, everyone is supportive of one another.
Before taking up teaching I worked as an actor in a Sydney theatre company for seven years. I've found that time spent as an actor very useful in the EFL classroom. Outside of school hours I like to write novels and this interest in words also aids me in my working life.
