Can I go surfing in Brisbane?

Brisbane is a popular spot for surfers, but bear in mind that the best surfing spots are an hour's drive away. Also within an hour you will find the Gold Coast, world-renowned for its surf. If that appeals, why not consider studying at Embassy Surfers Paradise?

How far away is the sea?

Brisbane is rightly famed for its clean white seashores. The most popular of Brisbane's beaches are Nudgee and Sandgate, both within approx 20km of the city centre. You'll find a map on the Brisbane local information page.

How far is the school from the city centre?

The school is actually in the city centre, just a few blocks from Queen Street Mall. You'll find a map on the Brisbane local information page.

How far are the Homestays from the school?

Please see our Brisbane Accommodation section for full details. Homestays are a maximum of 40 minutes away by public transport, and often closer.

Is there internet access at the school / in Homestay? Is it free to use?

All our schools have wireless internet access which is free, although there is a weekly download limit of 40Mb per week; additional bandwidth can be purchased at a small cost.

Homestays differ, and we cannot guarantee internet access. Please mention at the time of booking if it is important to you, and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements.

Do I need a car in Brisbane?

No. The school itself is central and easily accessible by public transport, and our Activities programme will take you to many surrounding places, so we'd recommend that you don't need a car.
