Go, Red Sox, Go!

Embassy Boston staff and students watching the Red Sox game

The Monday night of July the 28th: thousands of baseball fans are streaming to the famous Fenway Park Stadium in Boston. There's lively brass music, people buying hot dogs, popcorn, burgers and drinks, some checking booths with baseball souvenirs, some lining up for some ice cream before the game starts. The big game between Boston Red Sox and the LA Angels is about to begin.

Many of our students went to enjoy this most American of sports experiences for the first time in their lives. They found it really exciting, even though some of them did not know the rules. Japanese students, big baseball fans, had a special reason to support the local team with pride: their national baseball hero, Daisuke Matsuzake, plays for the Red Sox.

The Embassy staff team came too, helped to cheer the team, and answered a lot of students' questions about the game. And everybody joined singing the catchy baseball anthem: "Oh, sweet Caroline, good times never seem so good....!" Despite the fact that Red Sox lost, the great memories of that summer baseball night filled with the joyful spirit remain.

Kayaking in the rain

Eva Rivas, our Activities Manager for Boston, writes: Our kayaking event for the summer was held at a Kayaking/Canoe Club in Newton, MA on the Charles River. We had a great time despite the rain...

Well, let's face it, if you like watersports, a litte rain won't bother you too much.
