The Working Week
Teachers work 13 sessions out of a maximum of 23 sessions per week, with at least one full day off per week. Embassy summer schools have either a full-day or a half-day teaching timetable and teachers' hours will depend on which type of centre they are working in. Teachers who work on a full-day teaching timetable will be required to teach 10 sessions (five mornings and five afternoons, normally Monday to Friday).
In view of the amount of teaching involved on the full-day teaching timetable, the sixth day is for lesson preparation. Teachers who work on a half-day teaching timetable teach 5 sessions, and make up their 13 sessions with activities. Part-time teaching positions (5 mornings or 5 afternoons) for teachers on a non-residential basis are available in some centres.
Please look at the programme specific to your centre as in some cases, teaching may take place at the weekend.
