Kate Evans, Teacher at Embassy CES Hastings

Kate Evans, Teacher

I've been here since 1986. I was teaching in Spain for a while, and before that I worked in Theatre in Education.

I like the variety within the school, and the fact that the members of staff are very experienced in a wide range of areas. And there's a big variety of courses, so we don't get into a rut: with the teacher training and executive teaching and the summer school teaching, there are a lot of different possibilities, which keeps you fresh.

It's lovely in summer with the sea and it becomes quite cosmopolitan. It's cheap and easy to get around. I don't need to use a car here.

I like painting in my spare time and my garden in the summer.

Hastings is a good place to study - there aren't many distractions, especially in winter. It's easy to get to other places. There's a lot of nice countryside you can visit round about. And I think students get host families that are very interested in them, culturally and so on.
