Margot Tucker - Centre Director
BA Dip Ed, Grad Dip TESOL
My work involves
Managing the Embassy Melbourne programme, ensuring that everything works smoothly and professionally for all our students and staff.
My top tip for language learning
Take every opportunity to be out there using your English in the real world. People love it when students 'have a go' and will reward you with conversation - and a great boost to your confidence!!
My top tip for enjoying life in Melbourne
Join in on all the exciting and varied Embassy Platypus Club activities – you’ll make friends and see lots of Victoria. Become a frequent visitor to the Melbourne Information Centre so that you know all that’s going on in Melbourne and beyond! This way you’ll have entrée to a great range of different networks and types of activities.
My experience
We take great pride at Embassy Melbourne in offering our students a rich and rewarding experience in English language learning - and life - during their time with us! Our teachers are very professional and experienced and LOVE teaching - as you will learn when you read about them in this section of the website.
From the moment you arrive in our famous city, we aim to provide all the programmes and services to make your time with us memorable. I look forward to welcoming you.

Matthew Pickering - English Teacher
BA, CELTA
My work involves
Running all the adult language programmes. I organise the classes and make sure all the students improve quickly, and have a great time while they're doing it.
My top tip for language learning
Don't be afraid to make mistakes! The best lessons come from your mistakes so make your mistakes as big and memorable as possible!
My top tip for enjoying life in Melbourne
Just get into it… there is something going on every night. Get out and eat and drink and dance!
My experience
I've been an English teacher since the year 2000, and been at Embassy since 2003. Although I don't teach much anymore I love working at Embassy as it truly is an excellent school where the teachers and staff really care about the students.
I taught in England and Germany, but teaching and working at Embassy Melbourne turned out to be the best job I have ever had. The students come from over 30 countries, and range in age from 16 -75. It's a fascinating and challenging job, and now that I am managing the adult programmes, I can really help to make sure that students have every opportunity to learn a lot while they are here.

Suparna Ghansham - English Teacher
BBA; CELTA
My work involves:
Teaching English for Academic Purposes and General English, observing new teachers, facilitating professional development sessions.
My top tip for learning:
Try not to translate everything into your own language. It doesn’t work that way!
My top tip for enjoying life in Melbourne:
Take each day (and the weather that comes with it) as it comes.
My experience:
I’ve been teaching at Embassy Melbourne since July 2007 and I have loved every minute of it. The classes are comprised of students from different parts of the world, which is great, because it gives them and me a chance to interact with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
I used to teach in Jakarta, Indonesia before I moved to Melbourne and I think the move was a very wise decision because I love this city - it has a completely different feel about it.
Embassy has made me feel very welcome and I am proud to be a part of it.

My top tip for enjoying Melbourne:
I love having conversations with students of other nationalities and going to Embassy parties at the pub.
My experience:
I haven't decided what I want to do as a career, but hopefully I'd like to live in Melbourne.
I'm here for nine months. I wanted to study English harder than I could at home, and I'd heard Embassy was the most professional language school in Melbourne. I went to an approved Embassy partner, and he organised everything for me.
My favourite teacher is Alan, because he is always funny.

Neil McRudden - Teacher
BA; CELTA
My work involves:
Helping students realize their full potential as language learners in a learning environment that's as fun as possible.

Take every opportunity to use your language skills. Don’t be shy or afraid of making mistakes - nothing ventured, nothing gained.
My top tip for enjoying life in Melbourne:
Where to begin? Theres so much on offer here so take a chance and try everything!
My experience:
I’ve been teaching at Embassy Melbourne since February 2008 after teaching in Berlin, Malaysia and Sweden.
I enjoy living in and teaching in Melbourne as it such a culturally diverse city and offers so many attractions and things to do. Melbourne also has a relaxed vibe about it and I think that it’s a good city to learn a language in as the people are so friendly.
I’m very lucky to work with excellent colleagues and meet interesting students from all over the world. It gives me the chance to learn something about their culture too. Can't wait to meet you!

Be diligent. Maker plans for yourself. Open your mind. Don't be shy!
My top tip for enjoying Melbourne:
Sometimes we have a party with students from many different countries in someone's house. We talk a lot.
My experience:
I'd like to be a computer programmer and eventually I'd like to start my own company making computer games.
My favourite teacher is Sonya, who taught my Elementary and Pre-Intermediate classes. She was my first teacher and when I started school she was very kind.

Gus Craig - English Teacher
Dip. Aeronautical Engineering; CELTA
My work involves:
Teaching General English and looking after the technology that is used to help teach English. My special responsibility is the electronic whiteboards which are being introduced into all Embassy classrooms.
My top tip for learning:
Practise, practise, practise! The more you practise, the better you will get. There's an old saying which exists in several languages - my teacher used to say it to me when I was learning Russian - "Repetition is the mother of learning". It's very true!
My top tip for enjoying life in Melbourne:
Get out and about! Experience the wonderful diversity that exists, in and around Melbourne. Go to a sports event (AFL, NRL, Super 14 rugby, soccer, cricket, Australian Open tennis, Formula One Grand Prix).
Use the amazingly cheap Sunday Saver tickets on the Melbourne transport system (trains, trams and buses). Go on the fantastic school activities trips, and explore the fascinating backstreets and alleyways of the CBD! You will love it!
My experience:
I've been teaching English as a Second Language since 2005, and I love my job. I entered the profession after various exciting jobs which have taken me to over 50 countries - but I have finally found a place that I don’t want to leave.Australia, especially Melbourne, is the best!
After teaching for two years in Auckland, New Zealand, the lure of the 'sports capital of the world' was too great to resist. So here I am - I started teaching here at Embassy in 2007.
Embassy Melbourne is a great place to work and study. It is situated right in the heart of the CBD. It has dedicated and friendly teachers, and is committed to investing in all of the best resources and technology to assist students to learn.

My top tip for enjoying Melbourne:
Try to discover a new place in this city every day. Then you can know about a new culture in a new continent.
My experience:
I've been here at Embassy Melbourne for three and a half months, and everything has been wonderful: the teachers, the school, my classmates. And Melbourne has pleased me well.
