Dieter Prange, Germany - Student at Embassy CES San Diego

Dieter Prange, Germany

I'm from Germany and I'm studying general English.

I like San Diego very much; the weather is fine. The people are so nice, lovely and friendly. When I arrived, I thought, "Something must be wrong, everyone wants to talk to you".

I like the Gaslamp Quarter. I think everyone would say this. Then the old town maybe, or Seaworld. Especially Coronado - that's a wonderful place. I live in Coronado with my host family. It's fantastic, beach in front of you, beach behind you and when you go out the sun is shining.

I studied English for three reasons. For myself, for me to talk to other people, and for translating. The other is for my company, it's good to know a second language. Also, I wanted to see something new, to live in a host family and to see how life is in an American family. San Diego is very famous in Germany too.

The people at school are really great. They are helpful and friendly. You come in and at reception people say, 'Hello, nice to see you, you are new'. We went to see the school's Director first, Ashley. And then afterwards I had the test. They were really welcoming and we made a short trip to San Diego. They showed me the main points, the mall, the office of the bus station where I can get my ticket, maps and information.

Here in school there are a lot of activities. They organise trips to the zoo or Disneyland. I 've been to San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, Golden Gate Bridge Cable Car, Alcatraz, San Francisco Park and Lombard Street. The group was nice; I met many people: German people, Korean, Japanese, Brazilian, one couple from Ecuador - it was a very nice mix.
