Key facts

The Embassy i-Study pre-arrival package is an optional course. It can be purchased as an add-on when you book any of our courses.

Please note: The Embassy i-Study pre-arrival package can only be booked in conjunction with an Embassy CES course. It is not available on its own.

The in-course elements of Embassy i-Study come at no additional charge. If you wish to purchase the optional post-course module, this can be arranged at your school before your departure.

What is Embassy i-Study?

It's an online language-learning package, unique to Embassy CES, that you can access and use before, during and after your time with us.

Before you arrive

Our Embassy i-Study pre-arrival package gives you the chance to prepare for your course before you leave your own country. Improve your vocabulary, fluency and general confidence through our internet-delivered self-study programme.

The programme is designed to boost your English: it's fun and it's fast, and it's easy to do.

You learn through complete immersion, as children do, matching images and sounds and receiving immediate feedback.
You work at your own pace.
It's all about online listening and speaking - there's no writing or grammar.
It's most beneficial for lower level students (Elementary to Pre-Intermediate) although higher level students will benefit from practising pronunciation or consolidating vocabulary. What is my level?
It uses cutting-edge voice recognition software to help you improve your pronunciation.
All you need is a computer with a sound card and a microphone.
If you're at all anxious about your ability to understand or talk to native English speakers, Embassy i-Study is for you.

This option ensures that you banish any nerves and arrive in school full of confidence. With an enhanced level of fluency and vocabulary, you are more likely to be placed in a higher class and study at the very peak of your capabilities.

We offer Embassy i-Study as a 12-week pre-arrival programme. If you are booking less than 12 weeks before your course begins, don't worry - you can carry on your self-study while you're on your course. During your course

But the Embassy i-Study programme doesn't end with home learning. On your arrival at school, you'll find that you have access to a rich online dedicated learning environment. You'll have regular sessions using interactive technology to complement your class-based lessons. In consultation with your teacher - but at your own pace - you will have access to exercises, games and activities which will improve your English in all areas: writing, reading, vocabulary, grammar, listening and more. Your teacher will help you to set targets and objectives so that you get the best use out of the software.

There are more than 3,000 exercises and activities, so even if you're a long term student, there is always something fresh and interesting to try.
You can select the activities to reflect your needs, concentrating on general English, Business English, or exam preparation.
As you work, you can consult an integrated dictionary and grammar reference.
You can choose whether to select your own path through the software or follow our customised course designed to complement your class-based syllabus.
As well as dedicated lessons during the week, overseen by teachers, you will also have access to the online materials at any time that the computer rooms are open, or 24 hours a day if you bring your own laptop.

There are no additional fees for this resource: Embassy CES gives you access during your stay at no charge.

After you return home

If you enjoy this method of learning, you will have the option to continue once you have arrived home. For a small one-off fee, you can retain your log-on, and access the same wealth of exercises and activities from any internet-enabled computer – for a further 12 weeks. Payment is arranged at your school before your departure.

An integrated package

Embassy i-Study harnesses the very latest advances in language learning to make your lessons flexible, fun and effective. We are committed to bringing the most efficient new technologies to our schools. In addition to the programme above, you can also expect:

Electronic whiteboards You have to experience a lesson on an electronic whiteboard to believe it! Animations, sound, and truly interactive features mean that there's no passive learning here. You, the student, are right at the centre of a captivating learning environment.
Internet access All our schools and many of our residences worldwide have wireless internet capability, allowing you to bring your laptop to school and connect to the internet at any time. If you do not have a laptop, don't worry: we also provide computer rooms so that you can stay in touch with friends and family via email or live messaging.
Blogging and podcasts Social networking is the new essential skill for the 21st century; what began as a fun activity is now seen as a powerful business tool as well. It also offers phenomenal opportunities for interactive language learning. At Embassy CES we give students the option to join a Blogging Elective. This will be tailored to the needs of each individual class, and focused accordingly on business, writing, fluency, vocabulary, or grammar. Embassy CES teachers are also beginning to place podcasts online so that students can download themes from the day's lesson and listen to them on any MP3 player at their leisure. You could be learning while you travel, or while you relax at home in the evening!
