Frequently asked questions
2. What is the difference between a Certificate course and a Diploma course?
Both the Certificate of English and the Diploma of English offer all-round general English lessons. The difference is in the course structure and the cost.
The Certificate of English is extremely flexible, allowing you to start on any Monday throughout the year (except bank holidays). You can choose to study for as little as two weeks, or for as long as a year. You can also decide whether to study for full days or half days. At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of attainment.
The Diploma of English, however, is designed to be a long-term course, running for either six or nine months. Students begin on set dates four times a year. The length of the course allows us to offer great savings in tuition and accommodation fees, so the prices work out more cheaply per week. Thus, if you wish to study for a long time, the Diploma Course will often be more economical than the Certificate. At the end of the course, you will receive a diploma, together with a portfolio of your coursework and a set of reports and guidance from the teachers you have studied with.
Diploma and Certificate students often come together in afternoon class electives.
The same distinctions also relate to the Certificate of Business English and the Diploma of Business English.
