Embassy CES Brighton - official opening
After a few months of operation, during which our students have settled happily into their new city-centre surroundings, Embassy CES Brighton at last had its official opening.

Guided tour of the building, with guests including the Mayor of Brighton & Hove (second from the right).
Guest of honour was the Mayor of Brighton (whose full title, The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Carol Theobald, is something of a mouthful!). Also in attendance was Lord Tomlinson, Chairman of the Association of Independent Higher Education Providers, and member of the House of Lords. Other guests included staff from all departments of Embassy CES' parent company, Study Group, including teachers, administration staff, and directors. Naturally, students were invited too.

The event began with tours of the building, showing off its special features and facilities, from the fully-equipped classrooms to the flagship central atrium.
Four students were invited to unveil the plaque to celebrate the event. After this ceremony, drinks and canapes were served, while the guests were entertained by a Chinese dragon dance (it was, coincidentally, Chinese New Year just a few days before - and the dance also allowed us to celebrate this with our Chinese students).
Then it was time to showcase the many abilities of our talented students and staff. Brian Lin Ka Shing and Joy Yi Zhao played Beethoven sonatas on the piano; teacher Derek McAleese played classical Spanish pieces on the guitar; Assa, from Kazakhstan - and once a member of the Kazakh National Dance Troupe - performed the Kazakh national dance; and the college rock band (who are so new they do not yet have a name!) also played. In short, it was a marvellous example of a truly multi-cultural celebration - very fitting, given the atmosphere of our international school.

New Brighton school - the first pictures
Embassy CES students in Brighton are now living and studying in the new, purpose-built International Study Centre.
Classes have now begun. Book now if you'd like to be one of the first to study here.

The contemporary, environmentally-friendly building in the very centre of Brighton provides an unequalled space for learning and living - there is no other English language school to rival it in the UK. Situated beside Brighton station, the centre has four floors of classrooms, and a further five floors of single, en-suite residential accommodation.
Additionally, students can make use of the on-site library, bookshop, and cafeteria. On warm days, the courtyard garden is a pleasant place to sit, while the student common room and internet cafe provide an indoor meeting space. Of course, there is wireless internet access throughout - as there is in every Embassy CES school worldwide.
The images (above and below) speak for themselves of the immense amount of thought, architectural design, and high quality installations that have gone into making the new Brighton Embassy CES the very best learning facility possible. These images are artist's impressions of the finished building.
The building's exterior: Situated in Brighton's New England Quarter, the centre is only minutes away from the North Laine with its boutiques, cafes and museums. Transport options could not be better - Brighton station is right next door, connecting students with direct services to London; it is also a central bus route hub. If you prefer to walk, however, you'll find that it's an easy ten-minute stroll to Churchill Square, the city's shopping mall, or fifteen minutes to the seafront and beach.
The school has been built to strict environmental principles, even down to the bird-boxes on the roof! Carbon dioxide emissions are 40% less than the average for buildings of this size. Lighting, heating and air-conditioning are provided by the latest, environmentally-friendly methods.
Upper floors provide stunning views across Brighton's rooftops to the sea.

Internet cafe The internet is an important part of all students' lives, but even more so for international students, who need to connect with friends and family at home. The whole building is wireless enabled, but students can also log in at several other locations, including the library and dedicated private study rooms.

Student common room In between lessons, you can relax in spacious areas such as this. The plasma TV and DVD player also allow the room to be used for social activities such as film shows. Students who choose to live on-site also have access to several common areas within the residential portion of the building.

Cafeteria The school is only minutes' walk away from a huge choice of Brighton restaurants and cafés, but for maximum convenience, students can purchase breakfast, lunch and dinner right on-site. Diners can eat indoors or in the courtyard garden, and choose from a large selection of hot food each day, including vegetarian or Halal meals.

Exam hall This huge, adaptable space allows for lecture-style classes as well as exams. It is also at the heart of our social programme, allowing for parties and other get-togethers.

Student bedroom Single, en-suite rooms allow for privacy when you want it, while placing you in the centre of a vibrant community of fellow students. Live-in wardens are available 24 hours a day to assist with any problems and queries.
