Cambridge ESOL exam preparation: your results

The minimum level for joining a Cambridge ESOL preparation course is:

  • FCE: Intermediate (level 4)
  • CAE: Upper Intermediate (level 5)

You can expect to improve to a level which will allow you to pass the exam, that is, to rise by one level of English*. Read more about levels here.

The courses are timed to finish just before the exam dates. The exams will normally take place in March (FCE and CAE), June (all Cambridge exams), or December (all Cambridge exams).

Your school will register you with the test centre and make sure you have all the information well ahead of time.

* Applies to students who maintain full attendance and complete all homework and class assignments.
